To Know Christ and to Make Him Known

Community Involvement

First United Methodist Church of Sanford believes in reaching out in help and service to the people in our community.

We support many community outreach programs such as:

The Sharing Center

The Sharing Center serves the entire county of Seminole and has offices in Longwood and Sanford. FUMC Sanford sends shipments of food to the Sharing Center on a regular basis. The Sharing Center provides a clothing, food, healthy, and emergency financial assistance to those in need on a regular basis.

If you would like to volunteer at The Sharing Center or learn more about them, please visit their website at www.thesharingcenter.org

Central Florida Dream Center

The Central Florida Dream Center is located at 540 Pecan Avenue in the heart of inner-city Sanford where crime, abuse, and poverty run rampant.  One of the Dream Center's goals is to "offer programs for youth, adults and families."  Their mission, "to equip and empower individuals, families and communities to self-sufficiency so that they become contributing members of our society."

Please follow the provided link to learn more about the history of the Dream Center, programs they offer to the community, and to read how the Dream Center has benefited so many lives.  http://www.cfdreamcenter.org

Grace & Grits

A hot evening meal served each Wednesday evening at the Sanford Civic Center.

Our church will be hosting the Grace & Grits dinners March 2, 9, 16, and 23.  We can always use a hand buying the food, preparing the meals, and serving them.  If you would like to help, please contact the church office.  Thank you!
